Morocco, eh? What fun that must have been! Do they really eat couscous there?
Did I tell you that Jon was born and raised in Olympia? And I'm from Bothell? Were you born in Tacoma? How long did you live there?
I was stationed at Sidi Slimane AB, from 1960--1962, before Eisenhower gave it to King Hussein. When did you live there?
Was at Sidi Slimane AB Morocco 1960-62; Dad was stationed there and we were along for the ride. SAC reflex base. Closed in 1963. Not sure what it is used for now.
R.S., feel free to email me; I might have known your dad. I was assigned to Personnel. You can see a very good satellite image of the former base through Google maps; I don't know either, if it's used for any purpose now. The satellite image shows no activity.
My dad's name is Robert S. "Bob" Rayfield, he was a captain then. I was just a kid and had the time of my life. My school teacher's name was Miss Robins, a beautiful redhead that drove a powder blue Carmengia (VW).
Was it the 3906th Cbt Supt Gp,
4510th Air Div, 16th AF (SAC)? I think that was the OOB for that base. I think the base commander's name was Col Pyle; the PX (AFEX) burned down while I was there. It was in two or three huge Quonset huts.
I have never used Google Maps before, do I just type in Sidi Slimane?

Email on its way!!
I lived at Sidi Slimane AFB, too. I was there 1959-1961 and was in 5th-7th grades there. My dad was a pilot. My teacher was Carol Ross. I have corresponded with quite a few former schoolmates who lived with me those years at Sidi.
